The FX Aegis Pro is the entry model of Faraday Future's Aegis quadruped line: a 15 kg, 12-joint robot dog that walks, runs at up to 3.7 m/s and performs more than ten built-in motions, from a backflip and a bipedal stand to a wave and a handshake. It is driven from the supplied wireless remote controller or the app, and it comes with one customised costume.
It is built to be operated rather than programmed. That makes it a practical choice for event and exhibition teams, retail displays, brand activations and school STEM sessions, where the robot has to perform reliably without a developer behind it. A wide-angle 4K camera streams live video, and over-the-air updates bring new optimisations and features after purchase.
The body is aluminium alloy with high-strength engineering plastics. It climbs 16 cm steps, clears obstacles up to 35 cm, handles 30° slopes and carries up to 8 kg. The 216 Wh battery gives 1–2 hours of running, charges in about an hour and can be swapped between sessions. Its IP32 rating suits indoor venues and dry outdoor ground rather than rain or dust.
What the Pro leaves out is the development stack: there is no SDK, no standardised API access and no expansion port. Those come with the Aegis Edu, which uses the same body. If you plan to write your own behaviours, start there instead.
Key Capabilities
-
Ready to perform out of the box: The robot comes with a wireless remote controller, app connection and one customised costume, so it can walk and perform from the first day.
-
More than ten built-in motions: Backflip, bipedal standing, forward jump, waving and handshake are among the routines preloaded for shows, events and classrooms.
-
3.7 m/s on four legs: Twelve joints with 48 N·m of peak torque carry the 15 kg body over 16 cm steps, 35 cm obstacles and 30° slopes.
-
Live 4K video: A wide-angle 4K camera streams real-time video, and an IMU keeps track of balance and attitude.
-
Swappable 216 Wh battery: Each pack runs for 1–2 hours and recharges in about an hour, and packs can be swapped between sessions.
-
Updates over the air: OTA updates deliver new optimisations and features to the robot after purchase.
-
Operate-and-perform model: The Pro has no SDK or expansion ports; teams that want to program the robot should choose the Aegis Edu.
